Fred: I love this picture.
Our very first radio festival when “Jenny” hit big around spring of ‘96. We rode that one for almost a whole year to the end of ‘97. There were lots of these types of shows later on, but I remember this first one because I have a very distinct memory of a giant dirt cloud that rose from the audience when we started playing our hit and everyone went nuts.
This was the first time we’d ever played to an audience that size who actually KNEW our music! Nowadays when my knees get sore, I look at this picture and realize that I have no one to blame but myself.
Oh what the hell. It was fun. And for those few milliseconds, I knew what it was like to fly. I really do wish I could let you know what that felt like.
Shows this weekend:
Milwaukee, WI
Evanston IL
St Louis, MO
Kansas City, MO
I know a band that did a great song about flight: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2KMKAsFpmJ4
This picture brings to mind the first time I experienced Cowboy Mouth at Atlanta 96 Olympics when Fred climbed the speaker tower....no cell phone to capture, but it is etched in my mind. Been an avid CM fan since.
