What a great memory for you guys!! I'm not a musician, but I totally understand that feeling you just described. You walk up one day and say, you look around and where it all has come to and say "what the hell happened?!" but you're smiling the whole time. :-)
I've always wondered what that whirlwind must be like and the deep down integrity it takes to survive. Recently, I think of Tones and I: from busker to an audience of 17k people in three months. I've also been struck by the number of songs written using the word or the idea of "numb" in relation to touring: U2, Bob Seger, T.A.T.E, Metric. A lot of sacrifice to follow a Calling. I saw CM on that tour in Seattle and have been a fan ever since. I'll never forget Fred climbing the huge speaker scaffolding!
