Fred: San Diego!! What great weekend! My first weekend back since the shoulder surgery, and so far so good.
We started off Thursday night with an actual rehearsal! In the entire 34 year history of this band, we’ve probably rehearsed at most 10 times. Just wanted to get a rehearsal in to make sure that all the parts were working. No need to worry; we were all up to speed within a matter of minutes.
John and I did an acoustic home show on Friday night for our buddy Kevin Hellman and his lovely wife, Jennifer, that was a lot of fun. The Beat Farmers’ Jerry Rainey came out and sang a song with us as well! So much fun! Thanks John for the help with PA as well.
Saturday night the full band played a private show for our pal Steve Netzley, his lovely wife, Ruth, and all of their wild-ass friends at Venue 808. What a blast we had! Thanks so much to everyone at Venue 808 who treated us great.
Sunday night at the Belly Up in Solana Beach!! What a fun, packed, crazy night!! I was VERY surprised at how many people turned out to see us on a Sunday night. The place was stuffed! Good thing we’re going back to San Diego in May for the LSU crawfish boil! Thanks everybody at the Belly Up for a perfect cap to the entire weekend!
SO glad to be playing again. I’ve still got a lot of PT to do with my arm, but it feels MUCH better than it has in many years. I’m most happy to be playing with my buddies again as well as visiting with everyone after the show! I missed you guys…
See ya’ll out on the road!
Now through February 11th! Buy One General Admission (standing) ticket and get One Free for our show at the House of Blues in New Orleans on February 12th!
Sunday night was a MUCH-NEEDED night at the Church of Fred. ⚜️
Thank you, thank you, THANK YOU, Cowboy Mouth, for reminding us it IS a great day to be alive (even though we would rather be in Louisiana!).
Big, big love from Jacquelyn and Phil in boring San Diego.
Can't say enough about the backyard acoustic show! It's an amazing opportunity to hear stories and know these great guys a little better.
