The Other Side
There’s a story about New Orleans Saints NFL great Drew Brees going to the Superdome on Sundays off, playing complete games on the field by himself with barely anyone around. I don’t know if the story is true, but it would be congruent with the idea that many pro-athletes have about the benefits of ‘mental practice,’ the idea of not physically engaging in an activity, but instead performing said activity in your mind and/or imagination in order to stay sharp. I use that technique sometimes in order to prepare for shows.
I also like going a bit further toward the ideas of authors like Joseph Murphy and Neville Goddard, whose works espouse the use of imagination in a similar ‘mental rehearsal’ in order to meet life’s challenges and goals. Engaging your imagination toward a preferred outcome in mind can, according to these beliefs, help pull desired outcomes into your reality. I learned a long time ago how a positive attitude can affect one’s surroundings and experiences for the better.
That’s basically what the newest Cowboy Mouth single ‘The Other Side’ is all about, the idea of using your mental energy as a tool that can work for you, not against you. And although it may seem very thought out, this song just kind of hit me and wouldn’t let go. Those are usually the best ones, the songs that come out almost fully-formed.
Anyway, hope y’all enjoy it. I’m pretty fond of it. And I know that Griff likes it. So there ya go.
