About the song
CM’s new single, “Anything You’re Looking For,” is a song I’ve had lying around for a while. I’ve always tended to keep a few songs that felt special in my back pocket for whenever I thought they would be useful and/or appreciated. This song is one of those.
I wrote AYLF around the CM “Are You With Me?” era, but since that album already had more than a few melodic pop songs on it (God Makes The Rain, New Orleans, Take It Out On Me, etc.), I decided to hold this one back. This tune was released on a very low-key, low-fi solo album in the late 90s, but I was holding onto it ultimately for the Mouth.
Anyway, I’m pretty proud of this version and I’m glad to (FINALLY!) get it out. Since I’m a sucker for a good melody, I always thought this song had a special quality to it. I hope everyone enjoys it. Plus, JTG‘s harmonies always make everything better!
